New Jersey Fusion Wedding at Our Lady of Mount Carmel

There is nothing I love more than watching two people join their lives together. Mary and Manan’s fusion wedding was so incredible to be a part of – from the moment they started getting ready to their first kiss as husband and wife. Although they had originally planned to have just the wedding ceremony last September, after their micro wedding they decided to cancel the larger celebration they had originally planned. I have to be honest, that has been a reoccurring theme this year. Couples often think their micro wedding will leave them wanting more but at the end of the day, they get to be married to their person and it’s better than they could have imagined. If you are considering a micro wedding this year, don’t be afraid to make it your first choice.

Murphy Studio: New Jersey Wedding Videographer

Before I share all the details, a quick introduction in case you came here from a Google search (welcome!). I’m Alan, the wedding videographer here at Murphy Studio. I believe marriage is the strongest bond between two people, regardless of color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, race, religion, or creed. I have a photojournalistic videography style, which basically means I want your wedding video to unfold exactly as the day happened. I’m like a friendly fly on the wall on your wedding day. There to guide you when you need, but also making sure I don’t miss a single moment.

For Mary and Manan, I also had a chance to work with Mile Square Moments – the official wedding photographer partner of Murphy Studio (the photos in this post are from her!). If you are looking for a wedding photo and video team, you can learn more about our partnership here.

Getting Ready Photos & Video

I’m often asked if you “really need a wedding videographer for getting ready photos”. I’m here to tell you, in case you missed it from the teaser video, that these moments aren’t ones you want to miss. Whether you have a large wedding party getting ready with you or not, there are always candid and intimate moments to capture. More than that, Mary and Manan exchanged cards before the ceremony and I loved capturing their voices as they read the cards aloud for the video. It was ripe with anticipation for the wedding day and the love for each other filled the rooms.

Ceremony Traditions

I often say that I’m a wedding videographer for the non-traditional and wildly in love, but that doesn’t mean I hate everything traditional. Quite the opposite, I am here for couples to live their day exactly as they imagined. Whether that means bringing in family traditions or having a secular ceremony in the middle of the woods. For Mary and Manan, this meant a traditional Catholic wedding ceremony at Our Lady Mount of Carmel. They wanted to be married in “the eyes of God and our parents”. Mary also added a few special Filipino traditions, like the Catholic veil ceremony, a Catholic cord ceremony, and even lit a unity candle together. It was really special, and most importantly, authentic to them

Outdoor Wedding Photos After the Wedding Ceremony

Due to COVID restrictions, we weren’t allowed to stay in the church for photos after the ceremony. Mary and Manan had been live streaming for those unable to attend. Don’t be afraid of the tech if this is something you’re interested in either – it’s easier than you think. They said a quick hello to their virtual guests before exiting the church. After that, we headed to Rio Vista for some outdoor wedding photos. It was a really relaxed timeline and an absolutely gorgeous day. We started with the entire group for photos and then finished with the classic bride and groom portraits.
