If you want more than one day celebrating with your family and friends, you might consider having a destination wedding weekend. Couples all over New Jersey and New York flock to Upstate New York for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the busyness of the city. As a wedding videographer, I have been fortunate enough to explore Upstate New York for wedding celebrations a few times. Not only is Hudson Valley one of my favorite domestic destination wedding locations, Burkestone Estate is one of my favorite wedding venues. It’s close enough to the charming breweries and farm-to-table dining that the Hudson Valley is known for, just east of the Catskills mountains. You can really experience Upstate New York here.
Before I dive into the Burkestone Estate wedding venue, a quick introduction. If you are looking for someone to be the fly on the wall, and deliver you a wedding video that is intentional and authentic, you may have just found your videographer. I’m Alan, and you can learn more about me and Murphy Studio here. I have a photojournalistic film style that aims to capture your most authentic moments, exactly as they unfold on your wedding day. I would always rather create (and enjoy) experiences than manufacture them for the perfect instagram post. For more information on my wedding videography packages and processes, head here. If you have a wedding date already, contact me here to confirm availability.
If you are wondering if you really need a wedding videographer, I have a great post here. The short version is: nobody ever regrets investing in wedding videography. Photographs hold a memory in time, but video plays out the moments you don’t want to forget over and over again. Photographs can bring you back to how you felt in the moment, but video can remind you of the details. If you hire me to be your wedding videographer, I will capture everything. From the tremble in your voice when you read your vows, to the chorus of laughter during your best man’s toast.
Here’s a quick teaser of Juli + Joe’s wedding at Burkestone Estate last year!
You may have noticed a pattern in my favorite wedding venues. I love when wedding venues have a few location options for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Burkestone Estate in Hudson Valley has three unique outdoor wedding ceremony locations and a large barn for your wedding reception. The property sits on 6 acres of land, so you enjoy privacy you can’t often find in larger cities. The renovated barn, affectionately called “Big Blue” is over 3500 square feet. It fits up to 100 guests. They also have a smaller barn wedding venue that they call “Little Blue” for microweddings and cocktail hours! If you have a larger guest list, you can get married outside instead. There is nothing like string lighting and eating underneath the stars.
When you have a wedding away from home, it’s always a good idea to share a piece of the local destination with your guests. Burkestone Estate makes this easy. In their wedding packages, you can add a custom brewed cider for a sparkling cider toast. I highly recommend you do to enjoy a taste of the destination on your wedding day! Or, find another way to incorporate a bit of Hudson Valley in your wedding day.
When you are planning a wedding that’s a few hours away from your hometown, you’ll need to consider accommodation for your guests. At Burkestone Estate, they offer accommodation for up to twenty guests in their barn suites (5 rooms total). Perfect for you and your fiance, both sets of parents, and maybe your wedding party. There are also a wide variety of hotels and Airbnb options only 5-10 minutes from the wedding venue so your guests can choose something that meets their budget and taste.
You’ll recognize this video from Burkestone Estate’s website! In the video below, Juli and Joe chose the Evergreen Grove ceremony location.
If you are looking for a wedding videographer to capture some of your life’s most incredible moments, I would be honored. I only work with a limited number of couples each year, so when you book with me, your wedding remains a top priority. If you are wondering if we are the right fit, I love to photograph couples wild in love (with a taste for the untraditional and spontaneous adventures). I love meeting new people, and really getting to know them and hear their stories.
The easiest way to connect, is to fill out this contact form. Then, we can get on the phone and see if we are a good fit.
